Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Firmware Specialist to support the development, testing, debugging and maintenance of embedded firmware for vehicle telematics systems. The role involves hands-on work with microcontrollers, vehicle communication protocols and connectivity interfaces to ensure reliable communication between the vehicle network and cloud systems.
The candidate should have strong practical experience in embedded systems, firmware troubleshooting and vehicle communication technologies.
Required Exposure

Strong hands-on experience in embedded firmware development and debugging using C/C++.

Practical understanding of IoT systems, data communication and basic security concepts.

Working knowledge of MQTT, TCP/IP and UDP communication protocols.

Understanding of certificate-based security and PKI implementation.
-
Hands-on experience with CAN/CAN-FD, UART and SPI communication interfaces.

Practical exposure to UDS and ISO-TP protocols for vehicle diagnostics.

Experience in microcontroller programming, firmware flashing, testing and troubleshooting.

Ability to analyze system logs and identify firmware, connectivity and communication-related issues.
Preferred Add-ons

Hands-on experience with Renesas RH850 microcontrollers.

Familiarity with Green Hills / CS+ compiler and E2 debugger.

Experience with OTA firmware updates and remote diagnostics.

Knowledge of Doxygen for technical documentation.

Basic scripting skills in Python, Perl or VB for testing and debugging.
Core Responsibilities

Firmware Development & Maintenance: Develop, modify, test and maintain microcontroller-based firmware for vehicle telematics applications.

Vehicle Communication: Implement and troubleshoot communication between vehicle ECUs, telematics controllers and cellular modems.

Feature Implementation: Support firmware implementation and validation for OTA updates, remote diagnostics and vehicle data collection.

Testing & Debugging: Perform firmware testing, identify software defects and resolve issues using debugging tools and system logs.

Root Cause Analysis: Investigate communication failures and connectivity issues across vehicle, network and cloud interfaces.

Connectivity Support: Assist in device provisioning, communication testing and optimization of data transmission.

System Integration: Work with hardware, software and cloud teams to support integration and validation of telematics features.

Technical Documentation: Maintain firmware documentation, test reports, debugging records and issue-resolution details.

Continuous Improvement: Recommend practical improvements to firmware performance, reliability and system functionality.
