Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conceptualisation and design of high efficiency, high performance Switched reluctance motor (SRM), Synchronous reluctance motor (SynchREL), PMSM/BLDC Motor & Generator design & development for electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle applications (2W/3W and light three-wheeler). Electrical design of motor/generator & electromagnetic analysis using FLUX, MAXWELL & SPEED software.
  • Comparing different types of motors for EV & HEV applications through software allowing for quick comparisons between machine types, machine designs, pole numbers, winding topologies etc.
  • Responsible for working with Electromagnetic design engineers to develop mechanically and thermally feasible designs. Build & prove concept design with tight timing constraints. Working with and be involved in testing & validation of electric machines as per relevant standards on dyno and on the vehicle.
  • Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality, cost, weight.
  • Ability to solve novel, difficult design problems with tight timing constraints.

Technical/ Functional Domain

  • Knowledge of automotive drive train and components in EV and HEV drivetrain.
  • Strong knowledge of the mechanical design of motors & good understanding of construction/manufacturing methods of electric machines. Emphasis on documentation
  • Knowledge of motor assembly, winding techniques, and magnetic materials. Knowledge of electric machine testing methods & standards. Knowledge of basic design parameters of electric motors, raw material, practical production problems, and different application requirements of permanent magnet motors, quality, and process.
  • Performance optimization with Ansys optimization tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the mechanical design of motors & good understanding of construction/manufacturing methods of electric machines.
  • Thorough knowledge of different control strategies used for PMSM, PMBLDC, SynchREL and other motors. Knowledge of thermal management of motor & different cooling system designs and experience in electric vehicles & hybrid vehicles will be added advantage.
  • Software skills: FLUX, MAXWELL, MotorCAD, SPEED, Matlab/SIMULINK with knowledge of SIMSCAPE , python. 3D modelling tool (UG NX preferred) experience is an added advantage.
  • Design and development of electric traction motors for Low/Medium/High voltage for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications.
  • Hands on experience on Motor sizing, Permanent magnet selection and Electromagnetic design using state of art of Emag tools like Maxwell 2D/3D & Altair Flux.
  • Hands on experience on different motor design such as IM, IPM, SynRM, Hub Motor Switched Reluctance motor etc.,
  • Electric machine design and analysis using state of art of eMag tools like Ansys Maxwell (2D/3D)/ Altair Flux/Motor CAD.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics and thermal aspects of the motor.
  • Hands on Experience in thermal 1D thermal analysis using Motor CAD.
  • Design optimization of machines using advanced simulation techniques that involves automation processes, scripting and reduction in computation time etc.,
  • Strong understand of manufacturing process and hands on experience on the Engineering documentation.
  • Exposure on the prototype development and hands on experience of DVP & R.
