KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and implement the India compliance strategy aligned with Bajaj Auto policies and local regulations.
- Advise senior management on compliance priorities and emerging risks.
- Act as a trusted adviser to business units on policies and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with internal/external stakeholders, regulators, auditors, and global teams.
2. Domestic Compliance Oversight (India)
A. Statutory Compliance
- Establish and manage a robust statutory compliance framework.
- Ensure compliance with central, state, and local laws (Factories Act, Labour, EHS, Pollution Control, etc.).
- Maintain compliance calendars and monitor timely filings, renewals, and registrations.
B. Plant & Office Compliance
- Conduct periodic audits and facility inspections.
- Ensure adherence to automotive sector and industry-specific regulations.
- Partner with HR/IR, EHS, and other relevant plant teams to close compliance gaps.
C. Reporting & Documentation
- Work with respective stakeholders to prepare and submit statutory reports to authorities.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and dashboards.
D. Training & Awareness
- Develop compliance training modules, SOPs, and guidance notes.
- Build awareness and strengthen compliance culture across teams.
- Focus on digital modules to effectively train different teams.
E. Advisory & Assistance
- Provide actionable legal interpretations and regulatory guidance.
- Serve as the first point of contact for compliance-related queries.
3. International Compliance & Global Governance
- Build and manage a unified global compliance framework
- Conduct global compliance risk assessments and recommend mitigation actions.
- Establish and coordinate a global compliance liaison network.
- Draft, update, and harmonize global compliance policies.
- Implement KPIs and dashboards for international monitoring; report to the Board/Audit Committee.
4. Compliance Oversight & Monitoring
- Run risk-based compliance monitoring programs.
- Assess regulatory developments and lead implementation of required changes.
- Oversee compliance tools, systems, and policy management.
- Provide advisory on financial crime, sanctions, and political exposure risks.
- Manage suspicious transaction investigations and reporting.
- Support ad-hoc compliance projects and initiatives.
- Develop and implement One Digital Tool across the entities to monitor compliance
5. Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver regular global and domestic compliance training.
- Promote a culture of ethical conduct and regulatory awareness.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB).
- Preferred: LLM, Company Secretary (CS), or certifications in Compliance/Risk/International Law.
- Education from recognized institutions preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 3–12 years of experience in legal and compliance roles.
- Minimum 3 years in global compliance or cross-border regulatory environments.
- Proven experience managing statutory compliance for manufacturing (automotive preferred).
- Experience in compliance roles within global asset managers/financial services is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with compliance audits, regulatory reporting, and policy implementation.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Deep knowledge of Indian laws: Factories Act, Labour Laws, EHS, corporate laws, securities laws, FEMA, and sectoral regulations.
- Familiarity with international compliance frameworks and export control regulations.
- Process oriented, Self Driven, organised, go-getter, proactive in support and result focussed.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication. Digital capability will be a plus.
