Job Description: Manager Transmission Design. (Powertrain Transmission / Drivetrain Mechanical.)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Automotive R&D professional with 8 to 12 years of industry expertise to lead Drivetrain design roles. As an Automotive R&D (Manager Transmission Design), you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, designing cutting-edge solutions, and enhancing the performance of our automotive ICE products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop new technologies.
Roles:
- Highly motivated and inspiring personality who will Lead and manage the Drivetrain functions for 2 and 3 Wheelers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
- Define and oversee the development of new automotive technologies, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry trends.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to translate innovative ideas into feasible prototypes and products.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify potential improvements in vehicle performance, safety, efficiency.
- Stay updated with emerging trends, breakthroughs, and advancements in the automotive industry, incorporating relevant findings into R&D efforts.
- Lead the documentation of design specifications, Design releases and testing results for internal reference and potential patent applications.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in Automotive R&D, with a proven track record of leading a team who has delivered transmission design from concept to the successful implementation, along with the experience of handling various field issues to meet the customer requirements.
Prerequisites:
- Strong knowledge of Automotive Drivetrain systems and Mechanical components, and emerging technologies.
- Proficiency in using Romax software with Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience, knowledge of other simulation tools as Kisssoft, ADAMS, ANSYS.
- Extensive experience in designing transmission components as Gears, Shafts, Bearings, Differential sizing, Driveshafts, Axle, Clutch, Gearbox NVH and shifting components and validating the same.
- Transmission calculation as Tractive effort diagram, Gear ratios selection for vehicle level requirements.
- Know-how of transmission components material and manufacturing process selection and quality standards.
- Knowledge of Gear shifting, linkage mechanism, reflected inertia calculation. Experienced in clutch size selection and clutch release mechanism. AMT gearbox experience will be an added advantage.
- Drivetrain layout, resolving integration related issue and strong understanding of DFM, DFA, DFS. Coordination with different stakeholders.
- Component wise evaluation procedures, methods, test equipment’s and interpreting results of Gearbox endurance test, clutch and shifting components durability, gearbox noise testing, differential and axles.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical documentation writeup as DFMEA, DRBFM, Testing Standards, Validation reports. Know-how of product development processes as DoE, VA/VE.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a creative mindset for innovative solutions.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
