  • Should have been consistent & secured good percentage throughout academics (SSC, HSC (if appeared) etc)

Job Role & Responsibilities

Role:

 

  1. Support end‑to‑end design, detailing, and validation of IC Engine
  2. Responsible for layout, Packaging & Interface checks in 3D, with surrounding parts and highlighting clearance / interference issues, if any
  3. Working out design proposal in CAD of engine parts as input to Hz team
  4. To prepare Engine layout, BOM & release EC ensuring correctness of interface points of different sub system
  5. Perform calculations related to:
  1. Gear ratios & gear train layout
  2. Shaft and bearing sizing

           c. Stacks analysis of all engine axis and parts

  1. Ensuring that the part design respect all the DFM principles for respective part categories.
  1. Review the part design & prepare DFM check sheets before release
  2. Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality improvement, cost reduction, weight reduction of different  system
  3. Communicating interface issues with horizontals / styling
  4. Review CAE, CFD, NVH, and durability analysis results and provide design improvement inputs.
  5. Coordination with engine and vehicle T&V team & PM for Engine/vehicle level test
  6. Support Engine components and system‑level testing
  7. Participate in root‑cause analysis for failures/Issues in the validation testing
  8. Coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure DFM/DFA/DFS compliance, material selection, and process feasibility.
  9. Support prototype builds, validation activities, and engineering documentation including DFMEA, DRBFM, DVP plan, test reports, and drawing releases.

 

Technical/ Functional:

  • Strong understanding of automotive IC engine components and system, function of parts and basic design requirement like:-
    1. Air intake system
    2. Exhaust System
    3. Crankshaft, Piston and Cylinder block
    4. Transmission System
    5. Cylinder head and Valve train
    6. Cooling system
  • Hands-on experience in Engine lay-outing
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes: Casting, forging, machining, hobbing, shaping, honing, grinding, spline rolling, heat treatment, etc.
  • Familiarity with Engine parts quality standards and material selection.
  • Exposure to NVH, durability testing, and validation result

Specific expertise required for functional area :

  • Expertise in Creo (Preferred)/ Pro E / Unigraphics/NX and conversant with ACAD
  • Team center Engineering or PLM system
  • MS Office including Power point, Excel etc
  • Exposure to Quality/design standards/documents
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DFM, DFA and DFS aspects
  • Expertise in preparing 2D drawings & Knowledge of GD&T
  • Good knowledge of and exposure to relevant manufacturing processes inhouse as well as at vendors
