Job Description of civil engineer, required at R & D

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, supervising, and maintaining civil works within R & D largely industrial facility. The role includes maintenance of existing infrastructure and management of new construction or expansion projects while ensuring safety, quality, cost control, and timely completion. Roles involves vendor development, PO generation in SAP, Quotation evaluation and negotiation

Industrial Maintenance

• Inspect and assess industrial structures such as buildings, foundations, floors, roads, drainage systems, and utility structures.
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Monitor structural integrity of RCC and steel structures.
• Coordinate repairs of cracks, leakages, corrosion, settlement issues, and flooring damages.
• Maintain records of inspections, maintenance schedules, and repair history.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Project Management

• Plan and execute civil projects such as plant expansions, new building construction, equipment foundations, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost estimates, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal departments.
• Monitor project progress, quality, cost, and timelines.
• Review and approve drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
• Conduct site supervision and ensure adherence to approved drawings and safety regulations

Site Supervision & Quality Control

• Ensure quality control of materials (cement, steel, concrete, aggregates, etc.).
• Supervise concreting, masonry, waterproofing, flooring, and finishing works.
• Conduct site inspections and testing as per standards.
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting.

Safety & Compliance

• Implement industrial safety standards during civil works.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Should be familiar with Lisoning activity, dealing with government offices for permissions, NOC, Completion certificate etc.

Coordination & Documentation

• Liaise with mechanical, electrical, and production teams for integrated project execution.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports.
• Maintain project documentation and as-built drawings.

Nature of work at site

• Must handle carpentry work required for furniture repair, lockers, chairs, cupboards, partitions, cabin, office repairing.
• Must handle aluminum partition, door frames, window frames repair and installation
• Fabrication support for day to day work in terms crane installation, truss strengthening, Shed repair, Rack, table, guard, covers manufacturing
• Complete civil work support and maintenance in terms of building and floor painting, small pockets making, M/c foundation, floor tiles and minor repairing , wall and roof repairing, Road surfacing, test track (Low µ, Water wadding track, Torture track repairing), Special kind of civil support providing to test activity.
• Dealing with consultant, Project management, PEB building erection, Structural analysis, Building painting, Roof repairing etc.
• Maintain WC related plumbing activity, Strom water and ETP water circulation, Sewage line maintain,      
• Land scaping,Building interior, Parking sheds and arresting rain water leakages and avoiding choking of drainages

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial maintenance and project execution.
• Experience in factory/plant construction and maintenance preferred.
• Fully trained with AutoCAD latest version, 3D layout, Solidowrks, Animated view etc.
• Microsoft office and it’s all required tools
• Civil related special software’s, Structural designing.
• Understanding of industrial safety standards.
