Job Role & Responsibilities
|
Role: Power Electronics Engineer
Technical/ Functional:
- Design and develop power electronics platforms for an electric vehicle specifically solid state relay design and control, signal conditioning and data acquisition blocks of battery management system and DC to DC converters (isolated or non isolated) as per requirement
- Establish product specifications, derive system architectures
- Layout and packaging of electronic parts in vehicle considering all aspects of functionality and manufacturability
- Perform various simulations and analysis (e.g. worst case, Monte Carlo, tolerance stack up, power dissipation, stress, signal noise and fidelity etc.), in supporting the selection of components, system architectures and selected topologies
- Design signal acquisition, converter topologies and define vehicle communication interface for the application stated above or similar.
- Time and frequency domain understanding of analog signals, ADC operation and error factors, ADC calibration methods for improving signal SNR.
- Keep track of global trends in relevant technology, regulations and develop long term road maps and appropriate work plan
- Drive designs of the power components such as power switches, power resistors, gate drivers, magnetics, capacitors, and filters
- Work with cross functional teams for functional safety, thermal, packaging, EMI/EMC, FMEA, Worst case analysis
- Lead field failure analysis, establish root cause and develop corrective action plans
- Understanding of high voltage BMS architecture and related functional blocks for operation and safety
- Knowledge of design rules to be applied for high voltage battery electrical / BMS design
- Ability to define and audit production setup
- Ability to bring efficiency and improvement in production yield

Specific expertise required for functional area:
- Familiar with electric vehicle standards and regulations including ISO26262 functional safety and CISPR EMC and familiar with automotive Product Development Process
- Shall have understanding of DFSS methodology
- Hands on experience in design of BMS hardware for automotive or industrial or medical systems
- Proficiency in electronics circuit design, schematics capture and PCB layout
- Hands on experience in working on common lab equipment’s (Oscilloscopes, Digital
Multi-meter’s, Network analyzers, Spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Feature improvement/optimization and cost optimization of products
