Job role Plan, Design, Develop and Validate Vehicle Electrical Systems
Relevant Experience 10-15 years  
Educational Qualifications B Tech/ M Tech in Electrical or Mechanical, having thorough knowledge in automotive electrical systems  
Job Responsibilities ·         Supervise the design for all electrical and electromechnical components for vehicles such as starter motors, alternators, magnetos, starter batteries, solenoids, sensing elements, etc. as per performance/ quality/ cost/ weight targets and manufacturing constraints  
·         Design of vehicle electrical power distribution system, circuit protection system, and wire harnesses  
·         Layout and packaging of parts in vehicle DMU from concept stage and finalise considering all aspects of functionality and manufacturability  
·         Design of optimal routing of wire harnesses in vehicle maximising electrical reliability, ease of assembly and aesthetics  
·         Ensure quality in design/ development process through Design Reviews, FMEA (system/ design) and apply all such tools in the design phase  
·         Define performance and reliability test parameters, procedures for such parts  
·         Keep track of global trends in relevant technology, upcoming regulations and develop long term road maps and appropriate work plan  
·         Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality, cost, weight  
·         Root cause analysis for quality issues using QC tools and countermeasure action  
·         Define the overall activity schedule for all projects, monitor the same periodically and take appropriate action to ensure targeted deliveries  
·         Define work plan in short/ long term, prepare training plan and provide the same for the group and manage overall capability enhancement  
Competencies Technical/ Functional  
·         Expert in design and development of vehicle power distribution systems, sensors and actuators for automotive systems, and automotive wiring harnesses  
·         Thorough in basic theories and design concepts for automotive wiring harnesses, including wire sizing, wire thermal behaviours, as well as fuse and relay selection  
·         Knowledge of electromechanical systems in vehicles like starter motors, magnetos, altemators, solenoid actuators, etc.  
·         Product lifecycle management system, interface with all relevant agencies, quality management in design stage  
·         Knowledge in ISO/ TS standards for design, environment, information security and functional safety  
·         Good understanding about tool design/ manufacturing for sensing elements, manufacturing processes for sensors, actuators and wire harnesses  
·         Knowledge of all kinds of materials used for automotive sensors and actuators and their selection criteria for performance and cost optimisation.
