Role Overview:
Responsible for leading the design, engineering, and integration of battery packs into electric vehicles (EVs), ensuring optimal mechanical performance, safety, manufacturability, and compliance with standards. Collaborates across cross-functional teams (thermal, electrical, testing, production) to develop world-class battery solutions for next-gen EV platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the mechanical design, packaging, and integration of battery systems, from concept to production ramp-up.

  • Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and embedded system teams to define and optimize battery interfaces for safety, reliability, and performance.

  • Lead CAD modeling, simulation, and prototype development of battery enclosures and mounting structures (using tools like SolidWorks/Siemens NX).

  • Develop and validate mechanical, thermal, and structural aspects of battery packs including housing, cell retention, connectors, harness, and electronic integration.

  • Ensure robust mechanical integration for high-voltage isolation, crashworthiness, water ingress protection, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).

  • Support architecture definition through analysis of cost, mass, manufacturability, and lifetime performance.

  • Drive subsystem requirements, specifications, and design verification planning in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

  • Execute root cause/corrective action for integration, build, and launch issues.

  • Generate detailed drawings, GD&T, DFMEA, compliance documents and BOMs within PLM systems.

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and provide technical expertise for solving complex integration challenges in R&D.

  • Stay updated on regulations, standards (ISO, IEC, AIS), industry trends, and new material/technology developments for battery integration.

  • Support and lead physical testing, validation, and qualification of battery assemblies in collaboration with test teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.

  • 3+ years experience in mechanical design/integration, ideally within EV battery packs or high-voltage systems.

  • Proficient with 3D CAD tools and simulation software.

  • Strong knowledge of battery technologies, materials, thermal management, and safety requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional project teams and system engineering approaches.

  • Familiarity with industry standards on EV battery safety, testing, and certification.

Profile Standouts:

  • Deep understanding of real-world integration constraints: crash, water/dust ingress, thermal runaway, manufacturability.

  • Strong innovation and problem-solving skills for rapid prototyping and new technology evaluation.

  • Experience with documentation, BOM management in PLM.
